The authority and dominion that was given to the human race was for a limited period of time. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31) “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.” (Genesis 2:1) “And God saw every thing that he had made, and behold it was very good. (Genesis 1:26) “…Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it and have dominion…” (Genesis 1:28)Įvidence of the time frame is found in verse 31: Dominion was given in verse 26 and 28, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion…” It seems evident to me from the Genesis account of creation that it was God’s plan for man to have dominion over His creation for a predetermined time. He gave them a “lease” which Dad calls an “earth lease.” In essence, God gave the legal right to Adam and Eve. Everything was provided for the success of the earth to “multiply and replenish” under their watchful care. He contracted with them and their job was to watch over the earth, protect it and keep it. What is this contract that He will not breach? When God created man (male and female), He gave them dominion over the earth. He said, “heaven and earth may pass away but My word will not pass away.” His integrity is in His Word. But the fact is that God will not violate His Word and He has made a contract that He will not breach. With the emphasis on “power,” the idea that an “all powerful” God would not stop such atrocities is a horrendous thought. These questions point to an intensely misguided supposition that God, being all powerful can do anything. Why doesn’t God do something? How many times have you heard someone ask that question, imploring an answer to the violence and tragedies in the earth? If God really loves us, why does He allow children to die? If there is a God, why would such a good person die such a horrible death?
